We were doing boat trips with Roseann at Port Buchan and we decided to take Bluebell along under her own power to show her off to the crowds. Previously, when she had left her moorings, she had been towed by a BW tug but this time she was going to do it all by herself. A historic day.
The preparation for the trips had been well done, articles in the Courier and West Lothian on line, notices in Broxburn shops and notice boards but.... it was raining and the good people of Broxburn decided not to venture forth. It was therefore not a good passenger carrying day but that didn't stop the members of the society taking great pride in getting Bluebell this far.
Iain drove her along to Port Buchan where lots of willing hands helped moor her then we all admired her for the rest of the afternoon. When it was obvious that we would have no more passengers, we packed up our bits and pieces and went aboard Bluebell for a short trip to Greendykes Road and back.
Both boats were then returned to Drumshoreland and put safely back on their moorings.
The trip proved that the engine works although it has to be said that it smoked a bit. It is a bit noisy but we can add more insulation, the front well deck has plenty of room to stand up in if we had a cratch and cover and this will be included in the long term projects as it will greatly increase the comfort of our passengers.
